Four Horses Perish in Overnight Fire

Just before 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, January 16th, units with Stafford County Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the1000 block of Mountain View Road at the intersection of Kick A Poo Lane for an unknown type fire. Units arrived on scene approximately 5 minutes later and found a large barn structure well-involved and almost fully burned down. Units requested additional resources to the scene to assist with extinguishment of the fire. The fire was brought under control in approximately 15 minutes. Throughout the incident, crews were challenged by freezing temperatures.

There were no reported injuries to residents or firefighters, however four horses did not make it out of the fire and are deceased.

The fire is under investigation by the Stafford County Fire Marshal’s Office.
